School gardening

March 1, 2016

The vegetable garden is producing a variety of crops and the fruit trees are showing great promise. The bananas, passion fruit, herbs, strawberries and capsicum are growing nicely. As the seasons change different crops will be sown. We thank all the parents and community members who have donated their time, seeds, etc. and congratulate Brett and his helpers.

In 2015 Brett led his garden team of around eighty students in maintaining the vegetable patch. The students had a roster system at lunch times to participate in weeding, planting and harvesting. They also were able to take home some of the produce. Tasting new and different food was a great success. The purple bean was an experience for many. Our tuck shop was also able to make use of much of the produce.
