About the Library Resource Centre

The library is central to implementing, supporting and enriching the learning and teaching curriculum programs of the school. The teacher librarian cooperatively plans and teaches with class teachers to design and implement learning strategies to achieve class and individual outcomes.

The library is proactive in developing skills for the lifelong learning of the students and in the promotion of literature.

The library is located in a new purpose built, fully air-conditioned facility overlooking the oval. A media room, teacher planning room, a teacher reference room plus a large library space for the students cater to the many needs on campus. Students have access to a bank of computers during class time and may book other times for individual research.

Opening hours: 8.30 am – 3.30 pm Monday to Friday.

The resources are catalogued and located for easy access for the students. Students have access to: junior fiction, junior readers, fiction, non fiction and a reference area.

All students attend the library for a planned lesson and borrowing session each week.

Students in prep – year 1 may borrow 1 book.

Students in year 2 – year 6 may borrow 2 books.

Students in prep – year 3 are required to have a library bag when borrowing.

Students are allowed to borrow books for 2 weeks. Books may be re-borrowed if required. Students may reserve a book. Reservation forms are at the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) inquiry desk. Extra books may be borrowed for research and assignment use.

Students are informed when they have an overdue book. A fee will be charged if a book is lost or damaged.

Library monitors

Students from years 5 - 6 are eligible to become Library monitors. The library monitor team performs a very important role and makes a valuable contribution to the day to day functioning of the library. The library monitors assist with the lunchtime activities, the circulation and the re-shelving of resources.

Book week

The school celebrates Book Week each year with class displays in the library and a dress up assembly. Parents are very welcome to attend and enjoy the celebrations.

Each year an author/illustrator visit is one of the highlights of events in the library.

A book fair will be held in November for the students to purchase quality books at reasonable prices.
