Volunteers acknowledged

Geebung State School’s strong community presence was showcased this week at a morning tea held by the principal and teachers to thank the school volunteers.

Over 30 parents, grandparents and friends of the school were acknowledged by the school for all their hard work and time given throughout the year.

Acting Principal Annie Campbell was impressed at the number of people attending, “While Geebung State School is considered a small school, the community spirit is phenomenal”.

“Our volunteers have enabled the school to continue with many services which no longer operate in larger schools,” she added.

As a result of volunteers, Geebung State School has a tuckshop that opens 5 days a week, a Reading Army program across all year levels, general classroom assistance, swim club, and a very active P&C Association.

“The volunteers at Geebung State School contribute in time to a dollar value close to $250 000”, P&C President Melissa Ashford said.

Geebung State School may be a small school but is big in spirit.
