DISTRICT ATHLETICS
Congratulations to Jesse W. and Michael G. who competed in the Metropolitan North Region Athletics Carnival on Wednesday and Thursday this week. Michael won his Long Jump event and now competes as part of the Regional team at the State Titles in Cairns later this year. Michael also competed in the 100m and just missed out on gaining a place in the final. Wow Michael! Fabulous effort.
Jesse threw 9.4m in Shotput and 24m in Discus – outstanding distances which placed Jesse in the top ten for both events. Well done Jesse. I am impressed by your performances boys.
VANDALISM IN THE SCHOOL
We have recently been the target for vandals who have damaged property and left graffiti on the school buildings on at least five occasions. We are working closely with the Boondall Police and State Government Security and have put a number of new security measures in place. As you can imagine having our school damaged is extremely upsetting and we hope that we are able to overcome this issue soon.
We ask that you contact one of the following numbers please if you notice anything unusual occurring in our school at any time:
School Watch – 13 17 88
Boondall Police – 3364 3372
Thankyou for your assistance.

SOLAR & ENERGY EFFICIENCY PROJECT FUNDING
Due to a partnership agreement between the Department of Education and Training and the Federal Department of Environment, Water and the Arts, solar and energy efficiency projects have been funded to the value of $50 000 for our school. The project is delivered in two parts. We have already had over 400 fluorescent tubes replaced with energy efficient T5 tubes that use 40% less electricity. We are in the process of planning the next phase of the project: a 4 kW solar power system based on photovoltaic panels, which will be installed on the roof of C Block during the holidays. Included in this project will be a monitoring system that staff and students can use to assess how much power the school is using and how much power our solar power system can generate.
NEW SCHOOL CHAPLAIN
We are pleased to announce that we have selected a new chaplain for the school. Her name is Kerry Edwards and she may be already known to some families due to her past involvement in the school. She will begin work next week and we anticipate after a short period for induction she will be fully operational as our chaplain by early next term. We wish her well in her new role and look forward to working with her.
